About Impala Terminals Rotterdam
At Impala Terminals Group we facilitate the storage and handling of raw materials worldwide, providing producers and consumers with reliable and efficient access to international markets through our global network of owned and operated terminals, and a presence in 28 countries.
Our brand new flagship Impala Terminals Rotterdam facility is under construction in preparation for commissioning. This innovative terminal on the Maasvlakte is striving to be a zero-emission facility: the terminal is fully automated and meets the highest safety and environmental standards. It’s a facility built for the energy needs of both today and tomorrow.
For the start-up phase of Impala Terminals Rotterdam, we are looking for employees with a mindset for success. Because wherever we operate in the world, we strive for the same quality standards - and that all starts with our people. Our employees are the foundation of our company. Will you seize the opportunity to become part of a new team that’s creating something special?
Your role:
Are you an experienced HSEQ professional looking to make a real impact? At our Rotterdam Terminal, we're seeking a dedicated HSEQ Officer who will play a critical role in ensuring health, safety, environment, and quality standards across all operations. You will be a key part of our HSEQ team, helping to shape and implement policies that meet both internal and external standards, while driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
As an HSEQ Officer, you will take ownership of critical safety and compliance processes, from overseeing waste management to ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and certifications, such as ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 45001:2018. You will also collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Operations and Maintenance teams, to ensure our terminal remains compliant and operates safely at all times.
This role offers the opportunity to drive change by identifying areas for improvement, leading training initiatives, and ensuring that both staff and contractors adhere to the highest HSEQ standards. You will also take the lead on incident investigations, working closely with the HSEQ Manager to ensure that all necessary corrective actions are implemented.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Monitor and report on HSEQ performance, using key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure continuous improvement.
- Oversee the management of change (MOC) process, permit to work (PtW) system, and safety programs related to operations and maintenance activities.
- Lead the waste management agenda, ensuring safe disposal of materials such as effluent and oily water.
- Conduct regular safety inspections across terminal and berth operations, providing weekly reports on vessel operations, contractor activities, and firefighting system health.
- Ensure that all visitors, contractors, and third-party personnel are inducted and adhere to the terminal's safety policies.
About you:
- 7-10 years of experience in an HSEQ role within the oil & gas, terminal, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of Dutch HSE regulations and industry best practices.
- Experience working in the Rotterdam Ports environment is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to work with ISO management system standards, including 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 45001:2018.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Nebosh, IOSH) are an advantage.
- Fluency in both Dutch and English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse teams.
What we have for you:
- Be a part of a growing team in a strategic industry
- Drive change and innovation in health, safety, and environmental practices
- Opportunity to work in one of Europe's busiest ports
- A challenging role with real impact on safety performance and operational excellence
