About Impala Terminals Rotterdam
At Impala Terminals Group we facilitate the storage and handling of raw materials worldwide, providing producers and consumers with reliable and efficient access to international markets through our global network of owned and operated terminals, and a presence in 28 countries.
Our brand new flagship Impala Terminals Rotterdam facility is under construction and in preparation for commissioning. This innovative terminal on the Maasvlakte is striving to be a zero-emission facility: the terminal is fully automated and meets the highest safety and environmental standards. It’s a facility built for the energy needs of both today and tomorrow.
For the start-up phase of Impala Terminals Rotterdam, we are looking for employees with a mindset for success. Because wherever we operate in the world, we strive for the same quality standards - and that all starts with our people. Our employees are the foundation of our company. Will you seize the opportunity to become part of a new team that’s creating something special?
Your role
As an Environmental Officer at Impala Terminals Rotterdam, you will take the lead in environmental, sustainability, and compliance management, ensuring that our Terminal meets all relevant licenses, legislation, and industry standards. Beyond compliance, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of policies, procedures, work instructions, and HSEQ-related programs. By leading by example and sharing your knowledge, you will foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental management: develop, implement, and maintain the environmental policy, procedures, and KPI framework to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and global standards.
Risk & impact management: identify, assess, and control environmental risks, monitor the environmental impact of activities (e.g., air, water, soil quality, waste), and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence.
Permits & compliance: ensure timely renewal and compliance with all environmental permits, staying up-to-date with national and international laws, and ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & stakeholder engagement: work with internal departments, external regulators, suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders (including local residents and environmental groups) to address environmental concerns.
Training & awareness: develop and conduct training programs to raise environmental awareness and promote a strong environmental culture across the organization.
Sustainability initiatives: initiate and oversee sustainability efforts, such as energy conservation and waste reduction programs.
Environmental performance reporting: regularly report on environmental performance, ensuring continuous improvement and effective corrective actions are implemented.
