Your role:

Ready to lead and ensure operational excellence at our state-of-the-art facility? We are looking for a hands-on Shift Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Impala Terminals Rotterdam. In this pivotal role, you will oversee shift operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with environmental standards. Your responsibilities will include supervising operations, managing staffing levels, conducting safety meetings, and optimizing maintenance processes. Join us in maintaining high operational standards and driving continuous improvement in our terminal's operations.

  • Supervise operations, including qualitative and quantitative progress, and conduct control/inspection rounds.
  • Instruct staff and external parties on working methods, planning, and priorities.
  • Act as a working foreman, providing hands-on assistance to shift personnel in the Control Room (CCR) and elsewhere.
  • Delegate and distribute work assignments effectively.
  • Introduce and train new and existing employees, providing practical supervision and mentoring.
  • Organize and facilitate shift meetings, ensuring smooth information flow between shifts.
  • Promote cooperation, communication, flexibility, and a positive work environment.
  • Manage leave and absence planning to maintain optimal shift staffing for continuous operational performance.
  • Supervise the designated area, oversee permit issuance, and ensure equipment readiness for daily maintenance activities, while complying with safety and environmental standards.
  • Enforce strict adherence to customs procedures and maintain up-to-date shift logbooks and operational instructions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor shift personnel, providing guidance and support in executing tasks effectively.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers to ensure smooth operation and maintenance activities.
  • Facilitate training sessions for new and existing team members to enhance skills and operational efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures to maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.

Job requirements

About you:

  • Over 10 years of operational experience, including leadership roles.
  • Practical skills developed through trade apprenticeship.
  • Experienced in shift work and able to manage shift patterns.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Completed Incident Controller/Commander Training.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in terminal industry software.
  • Physically fit and capable of working at heights on Tank Farm and Jetty crane.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English.
