Our brand new flagship Impala Terminals Rotterdam facility is under construction in preparation for commissioning. This innovative terminal on the Maasvlakte is striving to be a zero-emission facility: the terminal is fully automated and meets the highest safety and environmental standards. Your role:

Are you passionate about leading a team to success in a dynamic and challenging environment? We are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Officer to support our Operations Manager in overseeing all terminal activities. Join us and play a crucial role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations at our facility. Some key responsibilities for this role are:


  • Uphold and promote safe working practices and excellent housekeeping at the terminal.
  • Manage and comply with environmental regulations, ensuring all necessary permits are in place and renewed on time.
  • Assist in controlling the operational budget, developing, monitoring, and reporting to ensure financial efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support the Operations Manager in guiding supervisors and other staff to achieve operational effectiveness, compliance, and financial efficiency.
  • Instruct and guide staff and external parties on working methods and priorities.
  • Manage inventory and delegate work effectively.
  • Train and mentor new and existing employees, ensuring continuous supervision.
  • Organize work meetings and ensure effective information transfer between shifts and departments.
  • Manage leave and absence planning to ensure optimal staffing.
  • Ensure operating and receiving gains/losses are within acceptable limits and resolve any issues.
  • Support the approved Capex and Opex budget, striving for cost reduction and improved performance.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) policies and promote continuous improvement.


Safety Critical Responsibilities (Major Accident Hazards):

  • Provide support within the Terminal for Process Safety Management, in line with Impala’s core values.
  • Promote and brief the Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP) to all Operations team members, ensuring they understand their roles.
  • Monitor process safety performance and act to correct deviations.
  • Ensure staff have the necessary knowledge and skills for their tasks.
  • Support the development of safe systems of work, including operating manuals, procedures, monitoring systems, and standards for managing change and safe start-ups.

Job requirements

About you:

  • 10 years of industry experience.
  • At least 3 years as an Operations Officer in a major Liquid Petroleum Terminal.
  • Post-school technical training is advantageous.
